“Alleged Murderer of KNUST Final-Year Student Remanded in Custody for Two Weeks”

Daniel Tuffour, a 21-year-old suspect in the alleged murder of a final-year female student at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has been remanded in prison custody for two weeks. The decision was made during his arraignment at the Asafo Circuit Court, where prosecutors requested additional time for investigations. The court granted the request, and Tuffour is scheduled to reappear on 17th March 2025. The Ghana Police Service confirmed Tuffour’s arrest on Thursday, 27th February, following initial investigations into the incident. The victim, identified as Yabane Deladem Aku, was found unresponsive behind the Central Laboratory on campus in the early hours of the same day. A post-mortem examination revealed signs of violence, prompting the arrest of Tuffour, a Level 400 Biological Science student, for further questioning.
