21-Year-Old Suspect Arrested in Connection with KNUST Student’s Death Following CCTV Analysis

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a final-year student believed to be romantically linked to the late Joana Deladem Yabani, as part of ongoing investigations into her tragic death. The suspect, identified as 21-year-old Daniel Tuffuor, was taken into custody after a review of CCTV footage from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) campus, where the incident occurred. According to the police, Tuffuor was seen in the footage wearing clothing that matched the attire he had on at the time of his arrest. This discovery has made him a key person of interest in the case. The Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe, stated that the suspect is currently assisting with investigations to determine his involvement, if any, in the circumstances surrounding Yabani’s death. In response to the incident, the police have launched an intensified 24-hour surveillance operation on the KNUST campus to ensure the safety of students and staff. Her lifeless body was discovered at approximately 5:00 a.m. by the KNUST Security Services, who immediately alerted the police. The incident has sent shockwaves through the university community, prompting calls for justice and increased security measures. As investigations continue, the police have urged the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information that could hinder the process.
