A powerful earthquake measuring 6.8 on the Richter scale struck the Tibetan Plateau early this morning, leaving widespread devastation in its wake. The epicenter of the earthquake was located near the town of Shigatse, a region known for its rugged terrain and high-altitude settlements.
Preliminary reports indicate that at least 126 people have lost their lives, and hundreds more are injured.
